The historic arrival of the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by China Southern Airlines at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby today is welcomed and applauded by PanAust, the owner and operator of the Frieda River Copper-Gold Project.
The flight’s arrival marks the beginning of regular direct flights between Guangzhou in the Guangdong Province of China and Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea, and the official opening of PanAust’s Port Moresby office.
For PanAust the direct travel route meets a growing demand for connectivity between the two destinations. With a new office in Port Moresby located at the Ela Beach Tower and a project office at the Frieda River site in the West Sepik Province, it is anticipated that PanAust and its associated entities will be frequent users of the new direct flights.
PanAust was represented on the maiden flight by Phil McCormack, Project Director of the Frieda River Project, Chengjie Li, PanAust’s Company Secretary and Jonathan Kort, PanAust’s Chief Development Officer. They travelled as part of the Papua New Guinea government delegation on this historic flight.
Upon arrival, they expressed confidence that the introduction of regular direct flights between Guangzhou and Port Moresby will add significant socio-cultural, business, and economic value to the relationship between the two cities and countries.
